Cognac production increases in Armenia in Jan-Sep 2013

Cognac production increased by 7.4% in January-September 2013, compared to January-September 2012, and reached 13.14 million liters, News Armenia reports.Wine production increased by 35.3% to about 4 million liters, champagne by 55.6% to 195,700 liters, beer by 38.4% to 15.18 million liters. Vodka production dropped by 6.4% to about 6.5 million liters.Production of non-alcohol drinks increased by 40% to 41.6 million liters.

Armenian wine makers concerned about Georgian products in Russia

 Avag Arutyunyan, President of the Armenian Union of Wine-Makers, expressed concerns that return of Georgian wine to Russia would reduce imports of Armenian wine. About 75% of exported wine of Armenia is bought by Russia, Lragir.am reports.Georgia used to export 50-55 million bottles of wine to Russia, with a capacity of 15-20 million.Arutyunyan said that Georgian wine had been cheaper until 2008. It has become more expensive. 

Serzh Sargsyan receives Executive Chairman of Rosneft Igor Sechin

  During a meeting today with Igor Sechin, head of Russian Rosneft company, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan welcomed its arrival in the Armenian market, according to the presidential press office. "The arrival of Rosneft in the Armenian economy will give a great stimulus to the development of bilateral economic cooperation," Sargsyan was quoted by his press service as saying, ARKA reports. During the meeting the two men discussed chances of  long-term Russian-Armenian cooperation in economy, including the energy sector.
